Will the mesh keep every pest out?
No such performance has been established. Different animals and insects call for different measures. Match the final mesh, edges and structure to the specific problem before choosing.
What should I prepare besides the bed?
Plan the location, water access, soil volume and paths for tending. Check the final dimensions to calculate the fill required. Costs depend on your materials and local suppliers.
Does a raised bed need less watering?
Not necessarily. Raised beds can dry more quickly than surrounding ground. Plan watering around the plants, soil, weather and actual bed design.
